I love everything I have seen this program can do.I just am having a terrible time getting it. There are so many downloads listed.tried the first one, didn’t work, tried the second one, still didn’t work, tried the third one, didn’t work. Added Java 8 on my computer running Win 8. Tried the first download againgot the screen saying it would install so thought.great.clicked next, get message as to where to install it.clicked next and says that folder doesn’t existtried making a new folder on the desktop.says it can’t go there. What am I doing wrong.
I am depressed when so many say how easy it is to install and use. I love fractals and really want to use JWildfire. I feel I am pretty computer savey but nothing is working.
Thanks for any help. I’ve been using this for years and love it. However, now I have a major issue – downloaded and used 2.34, then today downloaded 2.40 and yet same problem – it maxes out memory and I cannot do anything with it. I have a ThinkPad Edge with Windows 7 – 64, running Java version 8. The only program ever causing this kind of issue is JWildfire. I’m really sad because it maxes out my computer and I can’t even make my own images.
I may try to download an older version and see if that does it too, but it used to be on my computer and I never had issues before version 2.34. Wish I had a way to fix this, because it was one of my very favorite software packages. Hope you can make a suggestion on how to fix this.
Hello Andreas, Just wanted to thank you for this amazing software and amazing Christmas version especially! I think it is the best fractal software ever born on this fractal world:-) What I would love to see in the future is the android version j-wildfire mini being more developed as android devices get more and more powerful. I would love to be able to work on the road on my tablet, being able to fully edit my fractal before finishing & rendering them at home on the computer later on. Keep going your extremely good work! Thanks a lot for supporting our creativity:-) Kind regards, Andreas. First of all I would just like to congratulate Andreas on what I would go as far as to say is the best piece of software of it’s kind in the world! And also the loyal support of J-Wildfire through it’s updates, it’s a pleasure to use and is very accessible to the beginner and the professional alike, as a digital artist I often use J-Wildfire as the backbone for many of my works and is a valuable part of my digital artist toolbox.
Even after all the time I have been using it I still have more to learn and that is the mark of a good piece of software. Accessible to beginners and not restricted for Professionals.
Well done Andreas. Long may J-Wildfire continue to excite and surprise us with every update released. Hello, To everyone lovers of JWildFire and specially to Andreas Maschke for his great effort and creativity to build this amazing program. I have to say that this program not work in Win. I installed jre-8u5-windows-x64 but after starting program nothing happened (no massages, no alerts, nothing, I tried to set compatibility issue, but 0).
What is wrong I don’t know. I tried JWildFire under Win. Vista x32, Win. 7 x64 and everything works fine, but under Win.8.1 x64 it’s not work.
I hope that this will help to Andreas and users of Win.8.1. If someone have idea how to mange this, please help me. Kind regards to Andreas, and all users of this beautiful program! Hi Andreas =D It’s just Flinky here with a quick suggestion 😉 Is there any way that you could easily change the sort order of these comments so that the latest ones end up on top, instead of at the bottom? It would save a lot of scrolling mate 😉 This is obviously a Tiny detail and certainly No biggie but it might also save people getting the wrong impression about the awesome current software! Since the topmost comments reflect where you were nearly TWO years ago Which in JWildfire Time is Millenia Ago!!! This software allows the users to have more Powerful Fractal Artistic Fun than anything else on the planet, with their clothes still on!!!
This message is probably not clear if you read the “oldest” comments first It might even put some newcomers off from even having a go – which would be too SAD! Since as we all know JWildfire ROCKS!!! All the best mate, Martin 8) To any newcomers who read this What are you waiting for? =D See you in the FB “JWildfire Open Group” and the “jwildfire.org” forum 8).
I’ve been playing wit J-Wild for a while now and everything was fine till today. Andreas – I downloaded this about five hours ago and cannot leave it alone. I have played with fractal flames in other software before, but this is a superb program. So far I am only playing with changing the parameters and creating still images, and have yet to progress to animation. But it is so well-designed – and the GUI makes it all “intuitive”.
And the results are beautiful. Thank you, and I look forward to seeing more of your work – and good luck with your animated submission for the FractalForums award. When I click the link for v0.29, this is what I get: Multiple Choices The document name you requested (/java/j-wildfire-0.29.jar) could not be found on this server. I downloaded the on ending in 0.29, but, I see no launcher or even an exe. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance for your reply. The “general answer” is (I added this now also in the download section): The software is designed for modern systems and may be slow on your system if you are insufficient on CPU power or RAM. Sorry for that, but at the current stage of the development process there was not that much room for performance optimizations. They are on a later schedule. Feel free to drop me a mail at thargor6@googlemail.com for a more detailed discussion of your performance problems.
In this case plz provide some information about your system (OS, CPU, RAM, Java version) and what the probem is (just preview rendering oder final image rendering or) Best regards.

Now after several years and innumerable feature changes there has been almost a complete re-design of the source code, however the skinning engine of MediaPortal 1.X.X still remains very similar to that of the original XBMC software making it relatively easy for people to port skins/themes back and forth between the two projects, something that is done quite frequently.
