I had an important presentation to a client today, Monday morning. I decided to download LightUp Software on a Saturday evening and had problems because I hadn't deleted the demo version first.

Now I can easily say that it may be the most unstable sketchup renderer plug in.

It's very difficult to take the same effect everytime, there are not much customization options and its user interface is waaayyy to old an difficult. Also the author of the plugin tried to charge me another perpetual licence price to upgrade my version. When I told him that perpetual means perpetual like all the other programs he told me that 'it's only perpetual for the version when you bought it, if you want to go perpetual with the next version you have to pay again' Now:) this isn't funny. When I resisted, he accepted to upgrade for one time (still appreciate it) but for the next version I won't be 'perpetual' anymore he said:) Sorry to hear that. Anyways, I don't need it anymore.

My advice to all designers who search for a quality sketchup renderer, just search a little more. I don't want to give the renderer name I'm using now but you will easily find it which has much more quality end results, have a much more modern and easy user interface and is real 'perpetual'.

I've got an entry level PC and LightUp still works. After removing most of the planar reflections, questionable components downloaded from 3D warehouse, Pointlights that were way too strong, Sketchup surfaces that were not quite planes and grouping building and grounds into one group, I could then set the scenes and actually made a movie out of it. I had to render in LightUp twice because the rendering didn't complete the first time (presence of dark smudges in some areas). I used Sony Movie Studio to compile several movies together.

The finished movie looks really good. The camera movements were smooth and graceful. Thank you for your continuous support. It's a great product.

I could not get LightUp Movie Maker to work. Kept getting the bug splat. OBS can record in resolution of 1920x1080 and higher. How do I set up LightUp for higher resolution rendering? I find it very difficult to control the camera movements, with the mouse or the keyboard. There is no 'braking' and the camera always ends up in the middle of a wall and causes the screen to turn black. And sometimes during camera movement, the screen froze so the program could pause and catch up (with status bar turning). I made a small movie of a very simple model and it worked well. Now I was trying to make a 12 second movie of a larger LightUp model (160Mb) and no matter what I did, the outcome was just the fixed image of the opening shot.
